On Friday, October 14th, the Baden-Württemberg international design award was awarded to the new VistaCam iX. Focus Open 2011 is one of the few non-commercial competitions in Germany. The aim of the competition is to highlight design tendencies and identify innovative solutions.

Companies and designers entered a total of 357 products in various categories for the Focus Open 2011 competition. The submissions came from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Denmark, Holland, and Belgium. The jury of six decided on a total of 91 prize winners. 80 products were awarded the "Focus in Silver" award for great design achievement. The top award - "Focus in Gold" - was awarded to eleven products that were found to be excellent.

SWR moderator Markus Brock hosted the event. The "Focus in Gold" award for the VistaCam iX was presented by Jürgen Walter, Secretary of State in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research, and the Arts, and Ms. Christiane Nicolaus, Head of the Stuttgart Design Center. Martin Dürrstein, Chairman of the Executive Board of DÜRR DENTAL AG and Mr. Ulrich Merkle, designer and Managing Director of formstudio merklepark in Stuttgart, were delighted with the result.
